David Andrew "Andy" Samberg (born August 18, 1978) is an American comedian, actor, and writer. He is a member of the comedy troupe The Lonely Island (along with Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer) and a repertory player on Saturday Night Live.

Early life

Samberg was born in Woodbridge, Connecticut, USA, on August 18, 1978 to Margi (née Marrow), an elementary school teacher who taught at Beecher Road School, and Joe Samberg, a photographer. He grew up in a Jewish household and his maternal grandfather, Alfred J. Marrow, served as the executive chair of the American Jewish Congress. At the age of 8, he began dreaming about being on Saturday Night Live. He went to Old Mill Elementary School in Mill Valley. Samberg graduated in 1996 from Amity High School and began college at University of California, Santa Cruz. He then transferred to New York University to study film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated with a B.F.A. in 2000.
