Charles Hirsch "Chuck" Barris (born on
June 3,
1929) is an American
game show producer and presenter who was responsible for many of the best-known game shows of the 1960s and 1970s. He is also an author.
Barris is a survivor of
lung cancer.
Early career
Barris was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended
Drexel University where he was a columnist at the student newspaper
The Triangle. He graduated in 1953.
