Randall Darius "Randy" Jackson (born June 23, 1956) is an
American bassist,
singer,
record producer,
music manager, and former
A&R executive. He is best known as a judge on
American Idol and Executive Producer for
MTV's
America's Best Dance Crew. Jackson has won a
Grammy Award as a producer.

Personal life
Jackson was born June 23, 1956 in
Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, son of Julia LeGolvan, a homemaker, and Herman Jackson, a plant foreman.

Since 1995, he has been married to Erika Riker, with whom he has two children, a 14-year-old daughter named Zoe and an 12-year-old son named Jordan. In 2003, Jackson lost following
gastric bypass surgery. He stated in a February 2008 television commercial that he has
type 2 diabetes.
