The Unit is one of CBS's ensemble military dramas, but unlike JAG or NCIS, The Unit concentrates on action and counter-terrorism. Produced by playwright David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross), The Unit tells the story of an elite Special Operative Unit that undertakes risky undercover missions around the world. Jonas Blane (Dennis Haysbert, 24) is the no-nonsense leader of the unit, who guides his men through complicated field missions, and mentors the unit's newest recruit Bob Brown (Scott Foley, Felicity). Other members of the team include Colonel Tom Ryan (Robert Patrick, Terminator 2), Mack Gerhardt (Max Martini, Harsh Realm), Charles Grey (Michael Irby, Haunted), and Hector Williams (Demore Barnes, The Associates). The Unit sets itself apart from other military shows by keeping up with the wives left at home. A whole different kind of drama emerges back on the base as the wives cope with their husbands' covert lifestyles while dealing with secrets of their own.
